The 2024 minor league regular season has come to an end. Thus, this will be my last Prospect watch of the year. The Yankees had some high-end prospects this year and most of them had good seasons. It’s going to be interesting to see how many of the young players get a chance to make the Show next season and if any of them are traded for improvements to the Big-League roster. Let’s see how they ended the 2024 campaign.

Update From Yankee Land
The New York Yankees have clinched a spot in the 2024 MLB playoffs. As of this writing they have a 5-game lead on Baltimore for the division and their magic number is down to 6. I am still not sure winning the division is the way to go (taking a week off is a killer in baseball) but, even if they were to be swept by the O’s next week, they pretty much have the division rapped up. So, let’s head down to Yankee land and see how we got here.
Continue readingDown on the Farm
We have entered the last month of the season. Minor league teams only have about two weeks of games left so this will probably be my penultimate trip down to the farm. I figure I will just wait for the season to end to give my final report on the Yankee prospects. So let’s dive in.

Wow. It has been a long time since we checked in with the Yankees prospects down on the farm. There have been some big developments with the guys we have been following all season. At this point let’s not waste any more time and get right to it.
Continue readingUpdate From Yankee Land
It has been exactly a month so we are long over due for a trip down to Yankee Land. A lot has happened since last we visited, some good, some bad. We will get into all of it but first I would like to personally thank the Baltimore Orioles for not running away with the division. I can’t say for sure they did not bet on the Yankees to win the East. As we stand of this writing the Yankees and Baltimore are tied atop the AL East. The Yankees are 6 games ahead of the Red Sox who are the first team out of the playoffs. Their Magic number to secure a playoff spot is down to 35. Let’s get into how we got here.
Continue readingMLB’s Pitcher Injury Problem
A major issue around Major League Baseball this season, and the last few, is the number of pitchers who are getting injured. Pitching injuries have always been a thing in baseball but it seems the rate at which pitchers are going down has increased over the past several seasons. Of course, people are trying to figure out what is causing all of these pitchers to head to the Injured List. As usual though, most people want a simple answer. An easy fix. However, as in the cause of most things, I believe it isn’t one thing that has led us to this place of hoping your guy isn’t the next to go down for the season, but a handful of factors that are causing this rash of injuries.
Continue readingThe Yankees at the Trade Deadline
Today was the Major League Baseball trade deadline. The Yankees made a few moves to try to bolster their roster in an attempt to win yet another World Series. The teams biggest need heading into today was bullpen help and that was where the Yankees focused today. Let’s see what they did.
Continue readingThe Yankees acquire Jazz Chisholm Jr.
The New York Yankees have made their first trade heading into the deadline. They acquired OF/2B Jazz Chisholm Jr from the Marlins for 3 minor leaguers, C/1B Agustin Ramirez, INF Jared Serna, INF/OF Abrahan Ramirez. My initial reaction is that I don’t love this trade, but I don’t hate it either. Before I get into the reasons why, I want to point out that I can’t say I have seen Chisholm play a lot so I am going by stats mostly and my opinion of him may change once I get to watch him play day in and day out on the Yankees. With that said, let’s get into it.
