Here we go, the American League Divisional Series. The New York Yankees vs The Toronto Blue Jays. Two teams that tied for the top record in the AL East. This round is best of five and both teams will host home games. Once again this will be my thoughts during the game as they happen without edits aside from fixing type-o’s.

–Pregame

    —I have feared Toronto all season. Not only are they a hood team but they have not 1, not 2, but 3 certified Yankee killers. Springer, Santander, and especially everyone’s favorite, at least mine, Alejandro Kirk. This is not going to be an easy series by any means.

    —Going with Gil game 1 was the right move. Keep the three top guys on regular rest. I would have Warren on stand by to eat innings if Gil struggles early. Don’t want to use up the bullpen in game 1.  

    —Toronto has a very good lineup. They are going to score runs. The Yankees are going to have to hit if they want to win.  

–Top 1

    —Umps already screwing the Yanks one batter in.  

    —I really wish they would bat Judge 3rd. 

–Bottom 1

    —Nice little pick by Volpe

    —Stop me if you heard this one…Toronto is gonna score. Yanks are gonna have to hit.

    —Great inning if you don’t count that one pitch.  

–Top 2

    —No longer 0-fer vs Gausman

    —McMahon pitch selection is soooo bad.  

    —Well, Vlady came to play.  

–Bottom 2

    —Kirk just Kills the Yankees. It’s unbelievable.

    —Gil has no control. Can’t keep him in long.

    —That dude behind home plate with the long hair is jacked.

    —Again, good inning except for 1 pitch. Can’t let them build a picket fence but it’s not that bad right now. 

–Top 3

    —That was quick

–Bottom 3

    —WHAT!?!?!?!?!?

    —What is Boone thinking?? Gil hasn’t been great but he’s been fine.  

    —This is gonna kill the bullpen for the rest of the series.  

    —Now the Yanks have used their only lefty in the 3rd inning.  

    —I just don’t get it. 

–Top 4

    —It would really help to have guys on base al head of Judge

    —Don’t use Ump cam or any other special cams for live play. In any sport. Just use them for replays.  

–Bottom 4

    —Legit question…do so many people have schizophrenia that it’s worth having commercials for the medication?  

    —It’s a difficult decision and Boone is the worst person in the planet to make it.  

    —The fans in Toronto need to calm down. Not every ball hit in the air is a home run. Act like you’ve seen a baseball game before.  

    —That was a big inning. Now score some damn runs

–Top 5

    —Toronto’s defense is the story of this game. Vlady’s double play changed everything. That Jazz hit could have been the start of something.

    —The Yanks aren’t chasing much (except Rice). Gausman is throwing strikes. The Yankees just have to start hitting ’em where they ain’t. 

–Bottom 5

    —We are in the “This could go either way” part of the Yankee bullpen.  

    —That’s what you want to see.  

–Top 6

    —It’s only 2 runs. Please start getting some hits and scoring some runs

    —Volpe baby. Now get him in.  

    —Man on 3rd no outs. Have to get at least 1 run here. Even a double play grounder will score him. 

    —Just get the ball out of the infield Judge.

    —Here comes a double play ball

    —Belli has been their second best player all season. Needs to pick up his captain. 

    —Come on Rice. Be patient.  

    —Unbelievable 

    —Would be a great time for playoff Stanton to finally show up.  

    —That’s gonna leave a mark.

–Bottom 6

    —Great outing by Duvol. Now make it matter by scoring some runs

–Top 7

    —Can’t waste McMahon hits.

    —Why wouldn’t you pinch run to start the at bat so he can steal??

    —Good use of the pinch runner.  

–Bottom 7

    —Weaver should have lost his role as a high leverage guy. Way too hit or miss

    —Or walk

    —I still think the Sky Dome, or what ever it’s called, opens backwards.  

    —And back to a 2 run lead

    —The 3 batter rule blows

    —Nice play. Nice catch by Jazz

    —When Cruz can’t control his fast ball, which is like every other outing, he sucks.  

    —Is there anyone warming??

    —Might as well just leave him in now.  

    —This is why you don’t pull your starter after 8 outs.

    —I’ve seen crazier comebacks.

    —At least score a couple and make the Blue jays use their top end relievers.

–Bottom 8

    —At least that one didn’t matter. Hopefully that’s one he got out of his system.

    —Cannot take Blackburn out if this game. It’s over. Do not use another reliever.

    —Why on earth would you challenge this????

    —And what kind of hitter wants a HBP with 2 guys on and no outs???

    —I didn’t want to jinx it back when the game was on the line so I didn’t mention it but this umpire behind the plate has been excellent today.  

–Top 9

    —Get some hits and get some confidence for tomorrow.

    —He gave up 15 home runs as a reliever?? How is he not on the Yankees?

    —Someone tell Vlady he has something in his beard

    —Now that’s how you respond to a hit by pitch.

    —Only one loss. Gotta hit tomorrow.
