The 49ers Game 4 vs The Patriots

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the New England Patriots 30-13 this week.  This was supposed to be a “get well” game for the 49ers but, even though the score makes it look like it was, it really wasn’t.  Let’s look at what went right and what went wrong for the Bang Bang Niner Gang.

Knicks-Timberwolves Block Buster

The New York Knickerbockers and the Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to trade Karl-Anthony Towns for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.  There were other parts to the trade, and another team involved but these are the pieces that will matter for this season.  Before the trade I had the Knicks as by far the second-best team in the East.  Here is how I think this trade affects both teams.

This and That

Well, it’s that time again. Time for a brand new edition of my world famous This and That column. With all 4 sports is swing now, these should be a more regular occurrence for the next few months. So without further ado or gilding the lily, let’s jump in.

Down on the Farm

The 2024 minor league regular season has come to an end.  Thus, this will be my last Prospect watch of the year.  The Yankees had some high-end prospects this year and most of them had good seasons.  It’s going to be interesting to see how many of the young players get a chance to make the Show next season and if any of them are traded for improvements to the Big-League roster.  Let’s see how they ended the 2024 campaign.

The 49ers Game 3 @ The Rams

In week 3 of the NFL season the San Francisco 49ers traveled to LA to take on their division rivals, the Rams.  The Niners had won 5 straight regular season games at Levis South (not counting the meaningless game to close out last season when no one played).  This year the streak came to an end as the Red and Gold blew a 14 point lead for the first time since 2018 and fell to the Rams 27-24.  Let’s see what went wrong, and if anything went right for the Niners.

Phoenix Mercury Playoff Preiview

The WNBA playoffs begin today.  The Phoenix Mercury start their run at banner 4 as everyone tries to stop the Las Vegas Aces from threepeating.  Let’s take a look at the Mercury season and what to look forward to in the playoffs.

Update From Yankee Land

The New York Yankees have clinched a spot in the 2024 MLB playoffs.  As of this writing they have a 5-game lead on Baltimore for the division and their magic number is down to 6.  I am still not sure winning the division is the way to go (taking a week off is a killer in baseball) but, even if they were to be swept by the O’s next week, they pretty much have the division rapped up.  So, let’s head down to Yankee land and see how we got here.

The 49ers Game 2 @ The Vikings

In week two of the NFL season the San Francisco 49ers traveled to Minnesota to take on the Vikings.  Minny has been a house of horrors for the 49ers, who have not won there since Rickey Waters’ rookie season of 1992.  Sadly, the tradition would continue this season as the Niners fell to the Vikings 23-17.  Let’s talk about what went wrong and if anything went right for the red and gold this week.

The 49ers Game 1 vs the Jets

The San Francisco 49ers opened their season on Monday night at home against the New York Jets.  They defeated the Jets 32-19.  It was an impressive win to start the season.  Here are my observations from week one.

The 2024 San Francisco 49ers

The 2024 San Francisco 49ers are coming off yet another tough Superbowl loss (my kingdom for a holding call).  Their quest to return to the big game starts Monday Night against the New York Jets.  The Niners still have one of, if not the, best rosters in the league and their coach is still elite.  Thus, another run at a 6th championship is expected.  Let’s see if everything is as good as it seems.
